Seriously... whenever he comes on screen, I pull up a pillow and hide behind it. Between his comments about the show (and female characters!) and his own presence on the Doctor Who Confidential eps that i've been watching -- I just don't like him. At all.

I've watched the DW Confidentials for season 1 and now I'm watching season 2... and I have to ask, where the hell is Rose/Billie Piper? She's so rarely in any of them on season 2. I just watched the one for GITF, and she wasn't even at the read through.

I loved the season 1 confidentials because a) CE does so well at voicing what the Doctor is going through, and has great insights, as well as everyone else's responses to the shows and, most importantly, the Rose/Doctor dynamic. I love that EVERYONE talks about how season 1 demonstrates that Rose is the Doctor's equal... and then to watch the GITF DW confidential, where Moffat says that Reinette is the type of woman the Doctor would settle down with, is just... wrong. I think Reinette was portrayed as being bright and civilized and great for her time, but the thing is, she is a woman who is ambitious and wants to be in control of her domain. Not bad things, necessarily, but in no way does she have the joy in chaos and that sheer love of adventuring and exploring that Rose and the Doctor have. So no way would Reinette and the Doctor work out... they're so cerebral and amused with themselves, that they'd totally be an annoying (but attractive) couple. Rose is such a great partner because she sees everything the Doctor doesn't, as exemplified in Fear Her. They balance each other out She makes him a better man. And the Doctor is just that -- a man, not a god, no matter how powerful he is.

It just seems like in Season 2, so far in the confidentials, it's all about how great DT is as the Doctor and what he brings. Which is nice, and all, because I do like him, but it's not about the characters as much.

Seriously, though, is Moffat on crack? Because in two of his eps does he bring in OCs who are the loves of the Doctor's life while his companion is conveniently elsewhere. And he never seems to fall in line with the arc of the entire series; even the two parter in season one which I like (dude... it's Jack, how can you not?) sits out of the entire storyline. I'm really glad that I have no interest in watching when he takes over the show.

*points and nods*

I much prefer a sustained, complicated relationship (romantic or non) to the "girl-of-the-week" shtick.
