pataka02: (Sam -- death by bra)
I'm currently watching "Chimera" for the first time (and this the second time I've ever really seen an ep with Pete)... and is it wrong that the reason I'm enjoying the whole Pete/Sam thing is because we get to see Sam in really hot civilian clothes?

It's wrong, I know, but she's so pretty!

As for Pete... I like that he makes Sam all gushy. She's very cute in this ep so far. Though I have to admit he's a little pushy for my tastes. (And he's not hot enough for her... sheesh. Way to go, nepotism. Continuing on the tradition of the incredibly hot women with the average looking guy. It never works the other way.)

Sarah/Osiris creeps me out.

It's so bizarre to see Sam out of the SGC. And naked back! Woo! It's kind of weird to see any of them outside of the SGC and interacting with civilians. Also, Pete? Here's advice: don't talk about your ex-wife when you're both naked. Just sayin'.

I get that he's a cop but he's SO skeptical right off the bat. It's weirdly passive aggressive and I don't like what it does to Sam. So boo, Pete. Don't blackmail her into trusting you! Not cool. You were way better with the banter and the dancing and whatnot. Or the writers could've done more of a buildup, y'know? Not make him so paranoid right off the bat... because honestly, who goes from his girlfriend's bed to calling the FBI in like 3 minutes? I'm trying to cut him some slack but it's very hard.

I love Sam, Teal'c and Daniel talking about relationships. SO cute. Next thing you know, they'll be meeting for brunch and gossiping. Hee... and Daniel and Sam share a really cute moment: "Sounds like a normal male fantasy to me." The look they give each other... it's like he wants to kiss her and give her a noogie. Heh.

I love the briefing scene. Here's my question: wouldn't Daniel's mind have info about their whole trap? So wouldn't Osiris know about that as soon as she tried to enter his mind?

Uh, so Pete's friend knows Sam's not a case and a girlfriend instead, yes? Creepy. Seriously, I can't really justify this is my head, and I kind of want to like Pete. But I hate how he makes Sam feel bad about herself and her job. Couldn't they have created someone better for her? Orlin was good! Remember how Orlin was in love with her? He was creepy, yes, he was the only alien crush that did the whole sharing thing.

Sam kind of makes me want to cry in this ep. She's so sad and just wants someone who can handle her life and be there for her (which Jack can't). And umm, way to go Black Ops Jack, who doesn't notice THE COP watching them. Oh SG-1... can't take you anywhere on Earth, eh?

Daniel sleeps on top of his bed and not under the covers? Oooooooookay.

I can't believe Pete gets in the way like that! WTF? He should know better. I mean, even if he doesn't know exactly what Sam does... dude. And Teal'c?? How about helping Sam out rather than checking on everyone first? I've never seen him really do that, or any of them, not when there's an enemy on the loose.

Heh... was Pete originally scripted to die? 'Cause that would've been awesome. I think this is where I now realize that Sam is way more of a romantic than I thought. She definitely hides it, I think, but she's so very optimistic and trusting in a way. She was like that in the beginning but we always saw it tempered by her following Jack's orders, etc., so it never fully backfired on her. I can see how Pete and Sam would be good temporarily, but I don't see it ever lasting, not with the way she lives her life. It's just... Soldier!Sam is so much a part of her, and I don't think he gets to see that aspect of her. And it shows me that though she's grown from season 1 to season 7, she continues to evolve even more, and I think about how SGA Season 4 Sam, Commander!Sam, would've dealt with the situation differently.

So yeah. I'm a little disappointed that I don't find Pete as interesting and likeable as I had hoped to, but it's all tempered by the fact that I know it doesn't work out in the end, I guess.

On a side note, I love the awkwardness between Jack and Sam. And I do think Pete gives them the chance to interact on a whole other level. I think that as much as Jack sees Soldier!Sam and Scientist!Sam, he's not used to seeing woman Sam, if that makes sense. The introduction of Pete lets him see her outside the constrains of their ranks and roles in the SGC. He sees that yes, she's snarky, and sassy, and saves the world regularly, but that she also wants love in her life, and is vulnerable and open to the possibility of it.
